Mahkota Hotel Genteng, the best hotel in Banyuwangi, was established on May 20, 1991 on Jalan Raya Jember No. 55, Genteng, Banyuwangi. The area was once a plantation owned by the family of Mr. Wijaya Kusuma, and was strategically located in Genteng, a district of Banyuwangi. Due to the good location, in 1990, the man intended to build a hotel. At that time, there were very few hotels for local and international tourists to stay during their visits to East Java.

In 1991, Mr. Wijaya Kusuma turned his dream into reality by building the New A Je Em Hotel, which was launched by Mr. Widodo Pribadi, S.H, the PTJ. Bupati Kepala Daerah Tingkat II Banyuwangi. Eventhough there were a lot of obstacles in running the hotel during the beginning of its operation, due to the lack of tourists in Banyuwangi, Mr. Wijaya Kusuma didn’t merely give up. As time went by, because of his perseverance and hard work, together with Mr. Bram as the first General Manager of the hotel, New A Je Em Hotel reached its peak and became one of the main choices of the tourists.

In 2014, a full renovation of the hotel took place, including the buildings and the facilities. The name New A Je Em Hotel was also changed to Mahkota Hotel, which was inspired by the last name of it’s former name: Agung Jaya Mahkota.
